Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Welcome to Kigali! Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our guide who will transfer you to your hotel in the city. Take some time to relax and acclimate to the vibrant capital of Rwanda. Kigali offers a mix of modern amenities and historical sites, including the Genocide Memorial Center, which provides insight into the country's tragic past.Take time to visit the moving Genocide Memorial Center, which serves as both a somber reminder of Rwanda's terrible past and an example of the people's resiliency.The vibrant cultural scene and busy streets of the city will welcome you with open arms and provide you with many chances to experience the distinct essence of Rwanda's capital.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, we will embark on a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours, but the stunning landscapes along the way make it worthwhile. Upon arrival at the park, check into your lodge and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Take a walk around the lodge, immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings, and get ready for the adventures that await.Now that the procedures are taken care of, the rest of the day invites us to enjoy leisure at its best. There are many opportunities to fully appreciate the wonders of nature, whether it is by taking leisurely strolls about the lodge, taking in the crisp forest air, or just taking in the peace and quiet of the surroundings.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk
Today, we will set off early for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe Forest. Accompanied by experienced guides, you will navigate through the dense forest in search of these fascinating primates. Observe their behavior, listen to their calls, and learn about their conservation. After the trek, enjoy a picnic lunch before heading to the Canopy Walkway. This suspended bridge offers breathtaking views of the forest canopy and an opportunity to spot various bird species. We watch the chimpanzees patiently, taking in the wonder of their complex social dynamics and their environment. With the help of our informed hosts, we learn more about their habits and the vital conservation efforts that are being made. Day 4: Transfer to Lake Kivu
After breakfast, we will leave Nyungwe Forest National Park and make our way to Lake Kivu, one of the Great Lakes of Africa. The drive takes approximately 4 hours, and upon arrival, you will check into your lakeside hotel. Take some time to relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere. You can also explore the nearby villages or take a boat ride to explore the islands on the lake. The four-hour drive gives you plenty of time to take in the changing scenery, which alternates between verdant wetlands and serene riverbank views. When we arrive at our location, the cozy atmosphere of our lakefront hotel welcomes us and promises a relaxing stay.
Day 5: Lake Kivu Exploration and Departure
On your final day, enjoy a leisurely morning by Lake Kivu. You can take a swim in the refreshing waters, go kayaking, or simply relax on the beach. Have in the calm atmosphere while you gaze out at the glistening waters. You might even decide to have a refreshing dip to wake up your senses or go for a leisurely kayaking trip to see the lake's tranquil expanse. Alternatively, take comfort in just relaxing on the sandy beach and letting the soft sound of the waves calm your nerves. In the afternoon, we will depart for Kigali, where you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
